living it up on the staycation

so currently the only time i get to use a computer is when i am looking up a defendant's criminal record at work.  i don't even own a computer myself right now. so needless to say, i have a lot to learn when it comes to upgrading my blog posts. and i'm not exactly sure when i will squeeze in the time for a tutorial. when i need to pee at work, i usually have to hold it until after the end of court because there are a hundred+ angry people pulling on my coat who all think their case is the absolutely biggest deal to ever grace the docket.  so i am not exactly sure how i will be able to keep up the posting next week when i go back to work! i took off a few days this week for a staycation to jump start some projects, so it hasn't been that difficult so far. but after ALL of the super sweet emails, calls, texts, etc. i have gotten about the blog, i am making a promise to try my hardest to keep it up when i go back to work next week! ok, ok, enough excuses to forewarn of my future failure...how about some updates!!

say hello to my new best friend...

no, not the plush green carpet--it's rosie, the wallpaper steamer. last night i got the (over) ambitious idea to start taking down the wallpaper in the guest bedroom around midnight. if you remember, this is the room that has not one, but two different types of wallpaper. so when you can't pick just one...
and i don't know why i was surprised, but of course, the walls underneath the wallpaper were yet another shade of blue...(as is the outside of the house, & are the hallways & stairwell & even the floor boards underneath the carpet in this room.)

this was all after a big day of:
a) jumping up & down when the tile arrived!
Carrera going in the master--

floor tile in the hall bath--
b) doing cartwheels after the hall shower was all framed out--and we (real life sized humans) will actually be able to fit in it!
c) having a heated debate over paint colors. (i will add a better picture today when the sun is actually shining so you can see the colors better.) opinions welcomed! this is for the master bedroom.
d) painting ceilings. 12 ft+ ceilings really are not all that fun to paint. and now my hair looks like a dalmatian. but after painting the crown molding, the ceilings looked like a color that should be called 40yearoldwhitepaintthatisnowanuglyshadeofyellow--so we just HAD to repaint them.

e) jack becoming a local...the past few meals he has walked to pick up food from side street, person st. pharmacy, krispy kreme & a few others. and i couldn't be more excited he has realized that, yes, there are places within walking distance that have better food than high park (the sports bar with questionable food we currently live across the street from.)

needless to say, we didn't leave until after 1 last night and are feeling a little sluggish today. nothing a little left over krispy kreme can't fix.

what's on the calendar for today: laying some tile (will not be attempting myself) + finishing wallpaper removal in guest bedroom + 2nd coats of ceiling paint in den & master bedroom + painting bedroom walls + molding + trim in master bedroom + painting upper walls above wainscoting in den (new drywall being installed as i type) + priming hallway/stairwell + now i may be getting a little ahead of myself...

but on sunday, i have 4 VERY helpful hands (my parents!) coming up to help out--but only if they can pry themselves away from this guy for 1 night...not sure that is possible.

LOTS more to come later today. Stay tuned!
